Laura & Ian first came to see us at our home in Durham last Autumn, we got on brilliantly and we were really excited to photograph their wedding in July.
We met a few months ago for their pre-wedding shoot on Holy Island – wow what a place! They’d got engaged there, at the lime kilns, and it was great fun exploring the island with them. Unfortunately the castle is having a lot of work done, and so was covered in scaffolding, but there were plenty of other locations we could use.
Fast forward to the big day, which came around quickly, it was fantastic! We’d not photographed a wedding at Hope City Church before and it had such a vibrant atmosphere, with a live band playing during the ceremony. We then headed through to Slaley Hall, which never disappoints. There had been heavy rain the day before the wedding so the ground was a touch on the damp side but we still made it down to the Japanese Garden for some shots.
We had a superb day, Laura & Ian are such lovely genuine people, and all their friends & family were really welcoming too.
Laura & Ian very kindly answered these questions for the blog:
Dress – Wed2Be
Accessories – Jewellery was borrowed from my mum, my wedding shoes were from Debenhams
Suits – House of Fraser
Which of your suppliers would you recommend? – We have the most amazing friends who helped us with so much with the wedding car to decorating the cake. However Beaus and Belles did a great job with the chair covers and Ohh Sew Beautiful for altering the dress.
Honeymoon – Aviemore in the Highlands of Scotland, staying in a beautiful friend’s cottage
Favourite memory from the day – The day was a whirlwind but the one thing we remember most was the beautiful ceremony in our church
Advice to other couples planning their wedding – Enjoy every moment including the planning because it all goes by way too fast!
